Linden Hills Contemporary

The clients – a young family of four – asked Design Forty Five to design an efficient, open plan home on their lot near the heart of Linden Hills. The collaborative design process that followed included diverse solutions ranging from modern farmhouse to contemporary styles, all with durable, kid-friendly spaces and good connections to the outdoors. After seeing the funky solution with a deconstructed front porch, the direction was clear—this was to be a contemporary design. The owners fell in love with the simple exterior expression and a minimized yet warm and open interior. The entry space is alternately a library, formal entry and mudroom, defined by a shared storage/art wall. The main level features an open kitchen-dining-living area that deftly connects to the yard and neighborhood. The upper and lower levels include a series of playful spaces for family living.
